The curriculum is a tool in the hands of the artist (teacher) to mold his material (pupils) according to his ideals (aims and objectives) in his studio (school)”.’ Justify the statement.

The curriculum is the main basis for conducting educational activities. Educational activities are conducted to fulfill the objectives set in the curriculum based on the education policy of the country. Teachers, schools, students, and goals play an important role in this educational process.

Defining the curriculum, Cunningham said: "The curriculum is a tool in the hands of the artist (teacher) to mold his material (pupils) according to his ideals (aims and objectives) in his studio (school)”. In his definition, an artist means teacher, studio means school, substance means student, and goal/idea means expected learning achievement. In his view, the curriculum is a tool in the hands of the artist (teacher), through which he transforms the substance/ material (student) within his studio (school) into his idea (goal). The curriculum is decided by the teacher, the school, and the overall set of goals.

Educational activities are conducted in the school on the basis of the curriculum. The curriculum provides instructions on the purpose of teaching, the subjects to be taught, the method of teaching, and the tools for assessing learning achievement. Based on these instructions, the teacher guides his students to a goal in school.

When an artist creates a work, the imprint of his skill is seen in it, just as when a teacher teaches his students, the clear impression of the teacher's personality and ideas is seen in the student. The teacher's knowledge, skills, professional training, and perception of the curriculum affects the student's learning achievement. A good teacher can make a good student. The tools in the artist's hand influence the artist's artwork. Good tools are the means of creating good art. Therefore, the curriculum is a means of developing a good personality of the student. Teachers should use such good tools in the teaching process.

In the teaching process, the teacher's ability to implement the objectives set in the curriculum and fulfill those objectives has the same effect. Students are the place to develop raw materials and the artistry of school teachers. A teacher needs a good tool to turn the raw material into good work, that is the real curriculum. Therefore, as Cunningham said, the curriculum is a tool in the hands of the teacher, on the basis of which the teacher uses the physical and educational facilities of his school and his professional ability to enable his students to take objectives in the curriculum.

पाठयक्रमलाई परिभाषित गर्दै कनिङ्घामलेभनेका छन्‌ ""। उनको परिभाषामा कलाकार भनेको शिक्षक, स्टुडियो भनेको विद्यालय, पदार्थ भनेको विद्यार्थी र लक्ष्य / विचार भनेको अपेक्षा गरिएको सिकाइ उपलब्धि हो. । यिनका विचारमा पाठ्यक्रम कलाकार (शिक्षक) को हातको एउटा औजार हो, जसका माध्यमले उसले आफ्नो स्टुडियो (विद्यालय) भित्र पदार्थ (विद्यार्थी) लाई आफ्नो विचार ( लक्ष्य ) मा परिवर्तन गर्छ । शिक्षक, विद्यालय र लक्ष्यको समग्रबाट नै पाठ्यक्रम तय हुन्छ ।

पाठयक्रमका आधारमा विद्यालयमा शैक्षणिक क्रियाकलाप संञ्चालन गरिन्छ । पाठ्यक्रमले पढाउनुको उद्देश्य, पढाउनुपर्ने विषयवस्तु, पढाउने तरिका र सिकाइ उपलब्धिको आँकलन गर्ने औजारका बारेमा निर्देश गरेको हुन्छ । यही निर्देशकाका आधारमा शिक्षकले विद्यालयमा आफ्ना विद्यार्थीलाई एउटा लक्ष्यतिर डोर्याउने गर्छन्‌ ।

कलाकारले एउटा कृति निर्माण गर्दा उसको सीपको छाप त्यसमा देखिएजस्तै एउटा शिक्षकले आफ्ना विद्यार्थी लाइ सिकाउँदा शिक्षकको व्यक्तित्व र विचारको स्पष्ट छाप विद्यार्थीमा देखिन्छ । शिक्षकको ज्ञान, सीप, पेसा निष्ठता तालिम र पाठ्यक्रम प्रतिको बोधले विद्यार्थीको सिकाइ उपलब्धिमा प्रभाव पारेको हुन्छ । असल शिक्षकले असल विद्यार्थी निर्माण गर्न सक्छन्‌ । कलाकारको कलाकृतिमा उसका हातमा रहने औजारले प्रभाव पार्छन्‌ । असल औजार, असल कला सिर्जनाको साधन-हो । यसर्थ अंसल पाठ्यक्रम विद्यार्थीको असल व्यक्तित्व विकासको साधन हो । शिक्षण प्रक्रियामा शिक्षकले यस्तै असल औजारको उपयोग गर्नुपर्छ ।

शिक्षण प्रक्रियामा पाठ्यक्रममा निर्धारित उद्देश्य र ती उद्देश्यपूर्तिको कार्यान्वयन गर्न शिक्षकको दक्षताले उतिकै प्रभाव पार्छ । विद्यार्थी कच्चा पदार्थ र विद्यालय शिक्षकको कलाकारिता विकास गर्ने स्थल हुन्‌ । कच्चा पदार्थलाई असल कृतिमा परिणत गर्न एक शिक्षकलाई असल औजार, आवश्यक-पर्छन्‌ , त्यो नै वास्तविक पाठ्यक्रम हो । यसर्थ कनिङ्घामले भनेजस्तै पाठ्यक्रम ' शिक्षकको हातको एउटा औजार हो, जसलाई आधार मानेर शिक्षकले आफ्नो विद्यालयको भौतिक र शैक्षिक-सुविधा तथा आफ्नो पेसागत क्षमताको प्रयोग गरी आफ्ना विद्यार्थीबाट पाठ्यक्रममा उद्देश्य ग्रहण गर्न सक्षम बनाउँछन्‌ ।
